
Dominika is a documentary filmmaker who explores protagonists in existential situations, capturing their stories with empathy and simplicity, avoiding unnecessary drama even in tough situations. Through her films, she seeks to encourage viewers to believe in the possibility of meaningful change.
In recent years, she has primarily been filming in Ukraine, but she also focuses on human rights, migration, and audiovisual anthropology. She is highly skilled in cinematography and editing.
After earning a law degree in Vienna and she courrenlty graduates in film directing at Academy of performing Arts in Bratislava. In addition to her independent film work, she freelances as an audiovisual consultant and creator for various international organizations and NGOs such as IOM, EURACTIVE, European Migration Network.

Darkness All Around (2023) shows life in Kyiv during a wartime winter when constant blackouts created unusual opportunities for astronomy. Screened at various international film festivals such as Oxford shorts, Impact! Human Rights Catalunya, Luleå International Film Festival, etc.
In The Film I Didn’t Want to film (2023), she turns the camera on herself, documenting how her mother’s sudden illness reshaped her life and career, questioning whether she could remain a filmmaker in the face of personal crisis. AVAILABLE TO WATCH!
Her 2024 documentary Making Digitalization Work, created in collaboration with the Ministry of Education of the Slovak Republic, examines how digital technology affects primary school children and how schools can use it effectively. AVAILABLE TO WATCH! ( in Slovak )
Currently, she is working on Theater of Shattered Windows (2025), about a theater in Kherson located directly on the frontline. She spent over 12 weeks there during 2023–2024, documenting whether theater can continue when missile attacks have shattered every window in the building. TEASER AVAILABLE HERE!
